The Director of Nursing must be a licensed nurse. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day healthcare operations of the community to ensure residents' healthcare needs are met. The Director of Nursing reports to the Executive Director, serving as a part of the community leadership team, ensuring residents are treated with respect and dignity and ensures quality care as residents' healthcare needs change. The primary responsibility of the Director of Nursing is to hire, train and lead licensed nurses and other direct care staff within the community to ensure all care commitments and regulations are met, all residents experience a carefree and healthy lifestyle and family members are satisfied with the care provided. The Director of Nursing is to assist the Executive Director in maintaining and operating the clinical aspects of the Community. The Director of Nursing will organize, direct and supervise the Community wellness program in an efficient, cost-effective manner; safely meeting residents' needs in strict accordance with company policies and procedures. Provides training and education to resident care Team Members on an ongoing basis with classroom in-services, and situation-specific training. Provides training, supervision and monitoring Team Member's in the administration of medications and regular audits for the Medical Observation Records (MOR) and Medication carts. Supervises the compliance and accuracy of resident charts and reviewing documentation performed by care giving Team Members. Assesses the health, functional and psycho-social status of residents, initiating individualized service plans, proactively managing care and services for each resident, evaluating effectiveness and maximizing the resident's opportunity to remain in the community. Participating in pre-admission screening of prospective new residents. Assuring that required documentation is completed prior to or upon resident admission, including nursing assessments, service plans, and other assigned forms. Manages the health care of residents, including the dissemination of information to families and Team Members. Assures that family members are aware of resident's need for scheduled physicals, dental, or eye appointments. Performs on-site evaluations of residents admitted to alternate care environments for treatment and maintains contact with resident families with the goal of returning resident to a community. Evaluates residents; documents change in condition, and notifies executive director, physician, and resident's legally responsible party/family of resident's condition and reaction to medications, treatments and significant incidents. Communicates with resident's physician re: resident's status and condition changes. Ensures residents are prepared for physician appointments, prepares Physician Visit Form reviews and updates resident chart upon return. Facilitates continuity of care for those residents receive home health care, hospice services, and other third-party healthcare related services. May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned. Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure. 3 years of relevant experience leading a health & wellness department or similar department with a population of older adults, preferably in an assisted living environment. Memory Care experience is also preferred. Must be an independent worker with good verbal/written communication skills able to multi-task and problem solve. Ability to maintain patience, composure, and dignity in an emergency or crisis while maintaining confidentiality. Must be highly customer oriented and responsive with the needs of Residents, Families and Team Members. Able to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments. Strong team-building skills including the ability to lead, cooperate & motivate. Ability to satisfy Level II background screening requirements. Excellent decision-making skills, organizational and time management skills. Proficient in use of computers and technology competency, including Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook and other Microsoft Windows applications. Ability to work evening, weekends and minimal travel. Must be flexible, innovative, persistent and committed to successful completion of assignments. Able to clearly present information through the spoken word. Can accurately communicate, providing the necessary level of detail even under stressful or demanding conditions. Ensures a positive attitude and team orientation is exhibited in verbal and non-verbal communication. Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents' families, visitors and Team Members. Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, Team Member, residence, company information and records.
