JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care consistent with the unit's standards of care. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles patient records. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habit; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with considerations and respect.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Stocks patient rooms, unit carts, drawers, and storage rooms. 2. Communicates appropriately and clearly to Charge Nurse, nursing staff, and providers. 3. Communicates with other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs. 4. Assists RNs and LPNs with patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, walking, changing positions, oral hygiene, newborn screenings/procedure, or other tasks requested. 5. Assist RNs and LPNs with patient room turnover. 6. Assists Labor or Postpartum Supervisor, Labor or Postpartum Educator, or Labor and Delivery Manager as requested. 7. Knowledge of medical terminology. 8. Written and computer documentation meet current standards and policies. Documents in electronic medical record (EMR) accurately. 9. Able to perform vital signs on patients. 10. Emptying drains and foley bags and reporting results to assigned nurse. Keeps accurate intake and output. QualificationsEducation/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent. Current Nurse's Aide Certification (CNA) required.
Experience:
: Previous CNA experience preferred.
Equipment/Technology:
Basic computer skills. Able to use a variety of medical devices including but not limited to; vital signs machines, glucometer, ABL 90, leg compression devices, and kpad machines.
