We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated BNATP Instructor to join our faculty team in Chicago. Job Summary The Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program (BNATP) Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students enrolled in the BNTAP. The instructor ensures students acquire the knowledge, competencies, and professional behaviors required to meet Illinois state certification standards and successfully perform in entry-level nurse assistant roles. This position involves teaching both theoretical and practical components of the program while maintaining regulatory compliance and accurate academic documentation. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Delivery Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Illinois state regulations and the approved BNATP curriculum. Deliver structured and engaging classroom instruction on patient care, safety, infection control, ethics, and professional standards. Provide hands-on laboratory demonstrations of required clinical skills. Ensure all instructional hours meet state-mandated training requirements. Clinical Skills & Supervision Teach and demonstrate essential nurse assistant skills, including: Personal care and hygiene assistance Vital signs monitoring Mobility and transfer techniques Infection prevention and safety practices Basic restorative and supportive care Supervise students during clinical training at approved healthcare facilities. Evaluate student competency using state-approved skills checklists. Student Evaluation & Support Assess student performance through quizzes, written exams, practical demonstrations, and clinical evaluations. Provide constructive feedback and remediation as necessary. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. Support student success and professional development. Compliance & Program Oversight Ensure compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) requirements for BNATP. Maintain documentation for audits, inspections, and regulatory review. Assist with curriculum updates and continuous program improvement. Professional Responsibilities Maintain active, unencumbered Illinois nursing licensure. Participate in faculty meetings and institutional development activities. Stay informed on updates in healthcare regulations and nursing education standards. Qualifications Active, unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required). (LPN may be considered if compliant with Illinois regulations.) Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience (long-term care experience preferred). Completion of an approved Train-the-Trainer course (if required by state). Prior teaching or instructional experience preferred. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Ability to engage and motivate adult learners. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Professional, patient, and committed to student success. Working Conditions Classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical environments. May require evening or weekend hours based on program scheduling. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and demonstrating clinical procedures.
