Required What We Are Looking For Required Qualifications High School diploma, GED, or HSED Nurse Aide in good standing on the State Registry Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 45 days of hire Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing workloads High attention to detail Ability to provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan What You Will Do As a Nursing Assistant on the Medical Surgical Observation Unit, you will support high-quality patient care by assisting the RN and interdisciplinary team with daily patient care, coordination, and communication. Patient Care Support Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and therapeutic positioning Obtain and document vital signs, intake/output, daily weights, and other patient data Perform purposeful rounding and communicate patient needs to the RN Assist with patient transfers, mobility, and transport using proper techniques and equipment Support skin integrity through repositioning and appropriate care Assist with nutritional needs including tray setup and feeding support Patient Flow & Unit Support Participate in admissions, transfers, and discharges Prepare patient rooms and ensure proper handling of belongings Ensure call lights are within reach and respond promptly Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment Clinical Tasks Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens using proper labeling and identification procedures Perform point-of-care testing as required Under RN direction and based on unit needs, may assist with: IV removal Bladder scans Post-mortem care Coordination & Communication Coordinate tests and procedures with ancillary departments Maintain knowledge of EHR and ordering systems for supplies and equipment Process patient charges and related documentation Facilitate communication via phone systems, paging, and hospital information systems Support chart preparation and ensure completeness of patient records Clerical & Administrative Support Compile charts for admissions, transfers, discharges, and expirations Ensure accuracy of patient demographic and registration information Obtain medical records for transfers to other facilities Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and arrange repairs when needed Infection Control & Safety Follow infection prevention protocols including hand hygiene and PPE use Safely handle and dispose of contaminated materials Maintain compliance with hospital policies and safety standards Teamwork & Customer Service Foster a positive and collaborative work environment Respond promptly and courteously to patient and team member requests Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach throughout the shift Ability to lift: Up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist Up to 20 lbs. overhead Carry up to 40 lbs.
