Job Description:
School Nurse Assistant General Description As part of the School Health clinical team, the School Nurse Assistant supports student healthcare needs. Working alongside the school nurse, this role assists with health screenings, individualized care plans, and serves as a communication link between staff, parents, and counselors to promote student wellness. Essential Duties Collaborates with the school nurse and administration to perform the following: ?
Multi-Site Support:
Reports to Jr/Sr High School and Park Elementary as needed. Safely transports students when required. ?
Clinical & Screening Care:
Assists with state-required health screenings (vision, hearing, height/weight); monitors students with ongoing medical conditions; and coordinates care for ill or injured students, including emergency first aid. ?
Compliance & Records:
Monitors immunization status per Kansas laws; administers and logs student medications; and maintains accurate, cumulative health records. ?
Operations & Privacy:
Manages health office supplies, submits timely agency reports, and strictly adheres to HIPAA, FERPA, and district health/safety protocols. ?
Delegated Tasks:
Completes additional duties as assigned by school administration or the school nurse. Qualifications, Knowledge, & Skills ? High school diploma or equivalent; valid Driver's License; current BLS Certification. ? Computer literate with the ability to manage digital health records. ? Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate calmly and effectively during emergencies. ? Culturally sensitive and respectful when interacting with a diverse population. Working Conditions ?
Physical:
Regular standing, walking, driving, and computer use. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. ?
Environment:
Frequent travel between school buildings. Regular exposure to the public and potential communicable diseases; requires PPE as needed.
