Role:
As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Smoky Hill Health & Rehabilitation, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and high-quality care to our residents. Your primary focus will be to assist patients with their daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity at all times. You will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to monitor patient health and report any changes promptly. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to respond effectively to the physical and emotional needs of residents. Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact the well-being and quality of life of those entrusted to our care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification as required by the state of Kansas. High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of patient care and safety procedures. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a long-term care or rehabilitation facility. CPR and First Aid certification. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Additional training or coursework in geriatric care or dementia care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding. Monitor and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, and report any abnormalities to nursing staff. Provide mobility assistance, including helping residents move safely around the facility and repositioning bedridden patients to prevent pressure sores. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by following infection control protocols and facility guidelines. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and personalized care.
Skills:
The required skills such as patient care techniques, vital sign monitoring, and effective communication are essential for delivering daily hands-on care and ensuring patient safety. Strong interpersonal skills enable the CNA to build trusting relationships with residents and collaborate efficiently with healthcare team members. Preferred skills like familiarity with EHR systems enhance the accuracy and timeliness of documentation and reporting. CPR and First Aid certifications prepare the CNA to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring resident safety.
