Job Description

Neurology private practice in Hammond, LA is seeking a motivated and versatile applicant to provide clinical support in a Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant role as well as the ability to handle a subset of medical office clerical duties, including answering calls and scheduling appointments. This position may require the applicant to cross-cover in a receptionist capacity, when necessary. The ideal applicant would have the knowledge to conduct an efficient patient flow from arrival through to departure; perform various clerical and clinical duties; as well as interface with clinic personnel, patients/visitors, and fellow employees to ensure positive relationships and quality care. Applicant should have a willingness and aptitude to utilize practice EHR to complete daily work. Day-to-day activities include, but are not limited to, the essential functions listed below: Essential Functions Answering incoming telephone calls with a cordial, professional and knowledgeable approach; handle applicable patient concerns as appropriate or triage to appropriate staff. Ability to schedule patient appointments and scanning/routing documents as necessary. LPN/Medical Assistant duties, for example, prepping exam and procedure rooms, rooming patients, noting medical histories and patient information, assisting in procedures with the physician, and cleaning rooms and instruments. Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and work multiple stations, if necessary. Education, Training, and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Having completed an accredited, state-approved practical nursing program for Licensed Practice Nurse candidates or a certified program for Medical Assistant candidates. Minimum of 2 years' medical office experience, preferred but not required. Must be willing and able to exceed expectations for both productivity and quality standards. Requires the ability to organize and prioritize day-to-day tasks in order to keep work assignments current. Must be a self-starter and dependable. Must have proficient computer and typing skills.
