Adjunct Job Description Position Summary:
Provides didactic and/or skills instruction following Maryland Board of Nursing approved CNA curriculum to meet the educational requirements stated in the course description and objectives. Instructors prepare continuing education students to take the Maryland Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ) skills exam and the Geriatric Nursing Assistant ( GNA ) exam.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job: 1. Conduct organized classes at the instructional level to meet the educational requirements stated in the course description and objectives and in accordance with Maryland Board of Nursing approved curriculum. 2. Teach core skills related to
CNA / GNA
scope of practice 3. Evaluate the progress of each student; notify students in need of remediation and/or tutoring services. 4. Prepare students for CNA and GNA testing 5. Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experience at long term care facility 6. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community 7. Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods
Required Minimum Qualifications:
1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) with license to practice in Maryland 2. Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field 3. At least one year of nursing experience which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing or higher (in progress or earned) 2. Minimum of two years nursing experience 3. Complete a course with a minimum of 16 hours of instruction in the principals of adult education or have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (classroom or corporate) 4. Ability to prepare and present information and material in a classroom instructional environment 5. Knowledge of basic ADL skills, personal care skills pertaining to resident care in a long term care facility 6. Ability to perform and instruct skills according to MBON guidelines 7. Ability to supervise and assess up to 8 students in a long term care facility during clinical in long term care setting 8. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills 9. Experience using Blackboard 10.
