Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing quality care to residents, ensuring that medication administration is performed safely and effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and the ability to work with diverse populations, including those in long-term care and memory care settings. Responsibilities Administer medications to residents as prescribed by healthcare providers. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of medication administration. Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff. Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques during medication administration. Provide support for residents with behavioral health needs, ensuring their comfort and safety. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address any concerns regarding resident health or medication management. Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and best practices in medication administration. Requirements Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, particularly in long-term care or memory care environments. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is essential. Familiarity with infectious disease care protocols is a plus. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations. Compassionate demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members. Certification as a Medication Aide or equivalent training is required.
