Job Description:

Assists patients with healthcare needs who are ill or recovering from surgery or disease.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Promotes mission, vision and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Carries out care as delegated by the RN. Receives report from RN daily by 0830 or 2030 to coordinate plan of care related to ADL's. Documents all ADL's for each patient every shift. Answers lights, or intercom system to determine patients' needs. Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help. Transports patients or assists patients to walk. Runs errands, and direct visitors. Participates in admission/discharge activities. Accurately documents the care provided to patient during shift. Adheres to infection prevention strategies. Stock rooms with supplies. Stock isolation racks with supplies. Responsible to perform purposeful rounding. Updates "care boards" to include name, plan related to ADL/s, date

SITTER RESPONSIBILITIES

Observes patient behavior and maintains patient safety. Maintains an uninterrupted line of sight with the patient and will be required to assist the patient in completion of daily personal care. Obtain report from the assigned nurse or from the current sitter. Remain with the patient until relieved for breaks, meals and shift change. Accompany patient to other departments when patient is scheduled for tests/treatments. Notify the patient's assigned nurse of any change in patient's mental status or condition immediately. Notify the nurse of any safety concerns.

• primary floor will be 3rd, but they will float to 5M as necessary, and occasionally to the ED as a sitter This position is a Teamsters position so union dues/ membership is mandatory

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) Current Montana C.N.A. certification required upon hire BLS required within 60 days of hire

Preferred:

Previous hospital experience

This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc

Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items

• and•Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)

• and•May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
