Job Description

Job Summary:
Cates Family Care Home is seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a Medication Technician (Med Tech) certification to join our dedicated healthcare team. The shift is Full Time Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and every other Saturday 7AM to 7 PM. In this role, you will provide exceptional care to three residents, assist with daily living activities, and administer medications as directed. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our residents by ensuring their physical, emotional, and medical needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
Medication Administration:
Administer prescribed medications and treatments under the supervision of a licensed nurse, pharmacist or facility administrator. Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration and any observed side effects or reactions. Assist in the preparation and organization of medication carts and storage areas.
Clinical Support:
Assist with medical procedures and treatments as directed by the facility administrator. Report any changes in patient condition to the facility administrator promptly. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Communication and Documentation:
Document resident care activities, medication administration, and other relevant information accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and facility administrator. Participate in care planning meetings and contribute to patient care assessments.
Compliance and Safety:
Follow all facility protocols and NC state regulations related to patient care and medication administration. Adhere to infection control procedures and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) standards. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with healthcare practices and regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid CNA certification. Previous experience as a CNA, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting. Valid Medication Technician (Med Tech) certification (preferred). If the CNA is not Med-Tech certified, the facility pharmacist will provide Medication Technician training to allow the CNA to take the Medication Technician certification exam within 2 months of being hired. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medication administration, and patient care techniques. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Compassionate and resident-centered approach to care. Physical stamina and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
Working Conditions:
Work may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting. The position may require working weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols must be followed at all times.
