In this vital role, you will assist with daily patient care, support clinical staff, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for individuals across various healthcare settings. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner. Support clinical teams by preparing patients for examinations or procedures and assisting with medical documentation and medication administration under supervision. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper hand hygiene practices; assist with catheter care and wound management when needed. Engage with patients across diverse settings including long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU, emergency, trauma centers), outpatient clinics, and home care environments. Work with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia, providing specialized memory and behavioral health support. Utilize medical terminology knowledge to accurately communicate patient status to healthcare professionals and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Experience Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, PICU, Level I/II trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for medical documentation. Experience in specialized care areas such as hospice, infectious disease management, geriatrics, behavioral health, or post-acute care enhances your ability to excel in this role. Knowledge of physiology and anatomy fundamentals supports effective patient monitoring and care delivery. Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or medication administration are advantageous. Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or emergency medicine units while maintaining high standards of patient service and safety.
