DESCRIPTION
BENEFITS Job Description Responsible for assisting the Department Chair of Nursing in the administrative oversight of the Nurse Aide and Medication Aide programs. This position requires a great deal of flexibility to support varied curriculum and clinical education activities. Essential Responsibilities Develop, submit for approval, and implement a curriculum which is in accordance with standards set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON), and North Carolina Administrative Code (NCAC -title 21, chapter 36, Section .0317). Maintain knowledge in DHHS, NCCCS, SACSCOC, NCBON and other pertinent regulatory standards and communicate and coordinate regulatory and approval activities, including submission of fees and documentation, required to demonstrate compliance with established criteria with the Department Chair, Emergency Management. Manage and coordinate adequate resources with the Department Chair, Emergency Management (budgeting, space, supplies, equipment, personnel, and clinical agency contractual agreements) for faculty to provide effective and safe learning experiences for students using a variety of teaching methods, contribute to the development and implementation of student-centered education and utilize available educational resources for the improvement of instruction and creation of teaching material. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relations throughout NCC and community; respect social, cultural, spiritual, and intellectual diversity. Manage and process program and College related records, assessments, reports and other required documentation accurately and timely in collaboration with program faculty and other College representatives in support of NCC and program strategic planning and assessment initiatives. Demonstrate an understanding of principles of adult education and student-centered active learning strategies. Coordinate and participate in on-going training related to competent nursing practice, leadership, technology, and instructional quality through on and off campus professional development opportunities supporting College, program and individually developed professional development plans. Coordinate personnel needs by following procedures in the selection of full-time and part-time faculty and make recommendations to the Department Chair, Emergency Management. Coordinate faculty assignments, advisement of students, mentoring or professional development activities, and collaborate with the Department Chair, Emergency Management for leave approval and periodic instructional assessment and evaluation processes to ensure effective College and program operations and high quality instruction. Assist faculty in the development and revision of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, competencies, textbook selection and other instructional documentation required to meet program objectives, for enforcement of College and program policy and procedures, and for compliance with other institutional/clinical agency rules and regulations pertinent to classroom and clinical instruction and general employment. Assist program faculty in the coordination and implementation of the clinical education component of the curriculum. Coordinate, organize, plan and prioritize activities with the Department Chair, Emergency Management, other institutional departments or programs, and with program related agencies outside the institution in addressing and enhancing the strategic plan of NCC and other program matters, including recruitment, admissions, retention, advisement, grant opportunities, networking and public relations initiatives. Perform any other activity assigned which enhances the nursing program's effectiveness in meeting NCC and program missions. Perform and adhere to the essential requirements of a nurse aide/medication aide instructor. Attend annual graduation exercises. Maintain regular and consistent on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations in fulfillment of duties not inconsistent with the expectations for full-time faculty and College policies and procedures. Drive to remote instructional sites or other locations in performance of duties. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair and Chief Academic Officer. Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC. Participate in College events and activities. Maintain regular on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations consistent with expectations and College policies and procedures. Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls. Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC. Serve on various committees as assigned. Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Must have a current license as a registered nurse in North Carolina and a minimum of two years of experience in teaching at or above the level of the program. Must have a minimum of one year of full-time employment as a registered nurse in direct patient care in long-term care/skilled nursing facility or teaching students in a long-term care/skilled nursing facility. Must be available to teach or attend activities on days, evenings, weekends, and at off-campus locations and must attend out-of-town meetings as needed.
