Agency Adult Correction Division Job Classification Title Health Care Technician I (S) Position Number Grade MH01 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Join the NC Department of Adult Correction as a CNA I, where you'll work alongside healthcare professionals to provide essential care and support to patients in a secure, structured environment.
What You'll Do:
- Support RNs, LPNs, and Health Care Technicians with patient care tasks, including:
- Obtaining vital signs, weight, and height.
- Preparing patients for examinations.
- Assist patients with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulation, and repositioning.
- Safely transport patients as needed.
- Observe and report patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Collect and label specimens (blood, urine, feces, and sputum) within your scope of practice.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linens and making beds.
Temporary Role:
11 months with a 31-day break; renewal opportunities available.Location:
Statewide -variation of shift assignments according to facility; therefore, the availability of specific shifts will be discussed during the interview process.Eligibility:
