Job Description

A Brief Overview Supports and assists operative teams with the daily flow of activities of the operating room (OR) and patient care by cleaning/disinfecting the operating room suites and related areas, transporting patients and equipment, stocking supplies, and performing other duties as assigned.

Successful performance of this role helps UH provide safe, helpful and courteous care to patients and directly provides safe, helpful and courteous support services to operative teams.

Initiates and performs tasks according to established guidelines. What You Will Do Facilitate the efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases and preparation for the following case. Transport patients, trays, blood gases, specimens and equipment. Support operative team with various requests while cases are in progress. Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively to enhance patient care and facilitate daily operations. Participate as a productive member of the OR Assistant team. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education High School Equivalent / GED (Required) Work Experience OR cleaning/disinfecting experience (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Must be able to lift and push heavy objects such as patients, supply and patient carts, beds, and equipment. (Required proficiency) Must have knowledge of safe and proper handling of hazardous waste and other substances (training provided on the job). (Required proficiency) Must have knowledge regarding various positioning equipment (training provided on the job). (Required proficiency) Must have CPR skills (training provided on the job). (Required proficiency) In constant motion.
