General Statement of Duties The Restorative Aide provides restorative nursing care to residents under the direction of a licensed nurse, with the goal of maintaining or improving each resident's functional abilities, mobility, and independence. This role supports resident quality of life and compliance with the care plan in a long-term care setting. Essential Job Functions Assist residents with restorative programs as outlined in individualized care plans (e.g., ambulation, range-of-motion exercises, positioning, transfers). Encourage residents to participate in restorative activities to maintain maximum functional independence. Monitor resident tolerance and response to restorative interventions and report changes or concerns to nursing staff. Document restorative services accurately and timely per facility policy and regulatory requirements. Assist with proper positioning, use of assistive devices, splints, and braces as directed. Reinforce therapy goals and techniques as instructed by physical, occupational, or speech therapy staff. Promote safety during all restorative activities and follow infection control and safety guidelines. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Maintain resident dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times. Assist with resident transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics and equipment. Participate in care conferences, in-services, and required training. Job Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing (required). Restorative Aide training or experience in a long-term care setting preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements 1. Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the community for extended periods of time (up to 8-12 hours per shift) 2. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to assist residents with mobility and activities of daily living. 3. Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver wheelchairs, beds, and other mobility equipment. 4. Frequently required to lift and/or move up 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50-100 pounds with proper equipment or team assistance. 5. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks.
