Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health needs to promote safety and comfort. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care across various settings including acute care, long-term care, hospice, or outpatient clinics. Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or wound management to prevent infection. Assist with medical procedures such as phlebotomy or specimen collection when trained and authorized. Support patients with mobility challenges using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices safely and effectively. Document patient information thoroughly in medical records and ensure compliance with all privacy standards such as HIPAA. Skills Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for delivering safe patient care. Experience caring for individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; including dementia or memory care expertise is highly valued. Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and handle emergency situations confidently in fast-paced environments like Level I trauma centers or urgent care clinics. Strong caregiving skills with a focus on geriatrics, pediatrics (working with children), behavioral health needs, or post-acute/sub-acute care scenarios. Competence in using medical equipment such as catheters or DME (durable medical equipment) while adhering to infection control protocols. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide compassionate patient service across inpatient and outpatient settings.
