Nurse Aide in Training (PT)

The Nurse Aide in Training will assist residents with all non-care-related needs and services. As nurse aide certification classes are scheduled, the Staff Development department will schedule qualified candidates into the class to become Certified Nurse Aides Attend nurse aide training class as scheduled by Staff Development. Transport residents on and off units. Hold discussion groups, using various materials to promote interaction, communication and reminiscence (independent of therapist). Observe residents and report anything unusual or different in a resident's behavior and/or appearance. Assist residents on outside bus trips to embark, debark and transport at destination. Feed meals to residents. Pass out fluids, snacks and nutritional supplements at designated times. Put away laundered clothing. Fill water pitchers. Make beds. Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required. High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities. Treats others with respect and consideration. Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to complete multiple tasks and remain focused on daily operations. Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions. Flexible, and easily adapts to changes in the work environment Ability to work independently or as part of a team and proceed with objectives. Accurate and detail oriented with good verbal and written communication. Professionalism, integrity, and honesty with an ability to handle confidential matters

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Training certifications or professional development courses. Knowledge of Chester County policies and procedures. Relevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments or evaluations will be conducted after an offer of employment is given per County policy.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have: Basic Office Suite Skills, (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Explorer) Basic OutLook skills (Email and Calendar)

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, push items, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasionally, the employee will need to sit, reach above shoulders, bend at the waist or work bent at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; and drive a vehicle. On rare occasions, the employee will need to reach or work with arms above shoulder height; twist or rotate at the waist; lift and carry items, and work with an uncommon level of noise, There are no special vision requirements listed for this position.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Will primarily work inside. Will work outside, weather permitting.

Other:

A valid driver's license is required. Work hours are from 7:30am to 3:30 pm when not attending class. Class hours will be scheduled with the Staff Development department. Required to work every other weekend.
