About the Clinic The Community Medical Clinic is a community-based free medical clinic dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to underserved populations regardless of their ability to pay. Our mission is to promote health equity and wellness through compassion, education, and collaboration. The current service area is Kershaw County and portions of Lancaster County. Position Summary The Community Medical Clinic is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (Bilingual strongly preferred) to join our growing clinical team.
The CMA/CNA supports providers and clinical staff by performing both clinical and administrative duties while communicating effectively with patients in English and Spanish. This role assists with patient flow, intake, vital signs, documentation, patient education, and coordination of care while helping maintain a welcoming and efficient clinic environment. Work settings may include main clinic, satellite locations and school-based health centers. Clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Room patients and prepare them for examination Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints Assist providers with patient care and clinical procedures Administer medications and injections as directed by providers Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection as needed Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) Schedule appointments and assist with patient follow-up Provide patient education and translation assistance in English and Spanish Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and medical equipment Ensure patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Follow OSHA and infection-control guidelines Collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, volunteers, and administrative staff Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and compassion Support clinic outreach, health fairs, and patient education sessions as needed. Qualifications Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assisant (CNA) certification required Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or clinic preferred Experience with EMR systems and medical terminology required Strong computer and multitasking skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment Strong critical thinking and organizational skills Appreciation for the mission of serving underserved and uninsured patients Current South Carolina driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required Current BLS certification required. Knowledge of infection control, medication administration, and patient safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients, volunteers, providers, and staff. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of uninsured, underserved, and culturally diverse populations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Maintain clinic protocols and policies and update accordingly. Assist in telehealth visits, including the use of peripherals and assessments as instructed by the medical provider.
