CNA Full Job Description Location:
Arlington, Tx This is an extended hour hospice aide position. Hours range from 4-8 hours per day mon-friday depending on census. You will work for hospice but do extended hours in the facility caring for our patients ONLY . Job Summary Join our compassionate healthcare team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specializing in hospice care. In this vital role, you will provide personalized, respectful support to patients nearing the end of life, ensuring comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being. Your dedication will help families navigate this sensitive time with kindness and professionalism. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working within a supportive and dynamic environment. Duties Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence. Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring timely communication of changes. Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to prescribed protocols and safety standards. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, fostering a caring environment during difficult times. Maintain detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accuracy in patient records. Assist with specialized care needs such as catheter care, wound dressing changes, and aseptic techniques to prevent infections. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, social workers, and chaplains to deliver holistic patient care. Skills Proven experience in hospice or palliative care settings with a strong understanding of end-of-life needs. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration protocols. Experience working with diverse populations including elderly patients in long-term care, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes. Ability to perform complex patient care tasks such as using Hoyer lifts or managing memory care needs like Alzheimer's or dementia care. Strong interpersonal skills for working compassionately with patients facing terminal illness and their families. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and infection control practices; additional skills in phlebotomy or medical-surgical procedures are advantageous. This role is ideal for dedicated caregivers eager to provide compassionate hospice support while utilizing their clinical skills across various healthcare environments—including inpatient units like ICU or trauma centers—and community-based settings such as home care or outpatient clinics.
