Job Description

The Hospice Aide provides direct, hands-on care to patients in an in-patient hospice unit, focusing on comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse, the aide supports patients and families during end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral care Provide toileting and incontinence care Reposition and transfer patients to maintain comfort and prevent skin breakdown Assist with feeding and hydration as appropriate Promote a calm, respectful, and supportive environment Observe and report signs of pain or discomfort to nursing staff Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families Document care provided according to facility policy Unit & Environment Care Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment Change linens and assist with room setup Follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience as a hospice aide/CNA required 1 -2 years of experience in Hospice care, or Hospital, long-term care, or skilled nursing facility preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Compassionate and patient-centered approach Strong communication and observation skills Ability to handle emotionally sensitive situations Physical ability to lift, move, and assist patients Respect for cultural and spiritual diversity
