Available 7am-3pm (M-F) 3pm•11pm (M-F) • Weekend Doubles (7am-11pm) Sat. & Sun. (11pm-7am) PRN Check with Recruiter for exact shift availability. Models a service attitude towards others, takes ownership in solving problems and takes the initiative to make things better, is friendly and courteous to residents, patients and co-workers Ensure resident/patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting any new or existing safety hazards Maintain good attendance record Prepare, administer and promptly document routine medications per state regulations Administer the right medication to the right resident, at the right time, right dosage and right route Ensures clinical observations are made prior to and after medication as indicated, i.e. obtain b/p, pulse, check edema as indicated and document results, monitor for adverse reactions Communicate change of condition to charge nurse that requires PRN medication prior to PRN administration Follow proper infection control techniques during medication administration and other resident care procedures Ensures an adequate amount of fluids is given with meds and supplemental feedings are given as ordered Assist with meal service and feeding residents as assigned or needed Document meal % intake and offer substitutes to residents with less that 50% consumed if applicable Uses equipment correctly and safely during the preparation of medications and resident care procedures Administers medication within the regulatory time frames Keep medication cart clean and locked when not being utilized Utilize time between medication passes efficiently Communicate orders to prevent running out of medication to Clinical Coordinator Inventory drugs to ensure meds are re-ordered and received in a timely manner Assist in ADL care of residents as needed Maintain security and count of narcotics Assist in the monitoring of emergency and safety equipment on the assigned unit Assist in the monitoring of the CNA flow sheets to ensure proper documentation guidelines and report lapses to Unit Manager Assist in the follow-up of quality improvement issues as indicated Gather D/C medications for destructions per policy and procedures, document on appropriate forms and give to Charge Nurse. Other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED Valid Texas Medication Aide and CNA certification•Not Med. Tech. Ability to organize work flow and document timely and accurately Ability to maintain a positive, stable disposition in performing work in association with staff and residents. Ability to maintain a high level of performance in an environment of frequent demands and changes Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to handle confidential information, use judgment and make decisions Ability to work independent of close and constant supervision Ability to perform Essential Duties Genuine caring for and interest in the care of mature adults, people with disabilities and hospice patients Ability to perform work tasks within the Physical Demand Requirements Ability to comply with the Resident Bill of Rights and Employee Responsibilities Ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and proceduresSimilar jobs in Dallas, TX
