Part-time Overview:
The Nurse Aide in Training program provides paid, on‑the‑job and online training for individuals interested in beginning a career in healthcare as a Nurse Aide. Employees who demonstrate strong customer service, reliability, teamwork, and a solid work ethic may become eligible for Education Assistance to obtain their Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification. Paid on‑the‑job training is provided at no cost to the employee and may be completed through one of the following options, based on availability and individual learning preferences: Classes offered on‑site or off‑site at a Regency location A local community college or technical school program An internship option that includes a waiver allowing the employee to forgo the class and instead complete a skills check and practice examination provided by the facility, qualifying the employee to schedule CNA testing The next on‑the‑job training session is scheduled to begin on July 17th and will be hosted in Smithville.
Important Commitment Expectation:
If offered a training position, candidates should be aware that upon successful completion of the Nurse Aide training program and receipt of CNA certification, they are expected to commit to a full‑time rotation. This rotation includes 12‑hour shifts and a schedule that requires working weekends. What does a Nurse Aide and CNA do in skilled nursing? The Nurse Aide and C.N.A.s work under the direction of the Charge Nurses and will provide assigned residents with assistance for activities of daily living as outline in the resident's customized care plan. Nurse Aides and C.N.As must be compassionate, friendly, and enjoy helping others in order to provide the personal level of care expected. Essential Functions Provide residents with comfort and safety; including being able to detect and report situations that may cause resident accidents or injuries. Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure. Assist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, moving residents from area to area, lifting, and transferring. Utilize and log in care provided into Electronic Medical Records system. Measure and record vital signs. Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes of conditions to residents to nursing staff. Maintain care of equipment and supplies. Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required. Safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations. Answer call lights in a timely manner, trying to address the need of the resident or determine if assistance is needed from a Charge Nurse or another department. Always provide good customer service - tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. Other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management. Prior to beginning the Nurse Aide class, you will work in the role of Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two (2) weeks . This introductory period allows both you and the facility to ensure the Certified Nurse Aide role is a good fit and provides you with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the responsibilities involved in caring for our residents. During this time, you will assist the care team with supportive, non-clinical duties that do not require certification. These duties may include, but are not limited to: Answering call lights Making beds and assisting with maintaining resident rooms Passing water and supporting resident comfort Passing trays in the dining hall Assisting staff with other basic resident needs that do not require certification Successful completion of this introductory period and demonstration of reliability, professionalism, and compassion for residents will allow you to move forward into the Nurse Aide Training Class provided by the facility. Job Requirements High School Diploma or GED is high preferred. Experience as a caregiver is preferred. Good communication skills.
