Job Description
About Muenster Hospital District In 1958, the citizens of Muenster, not satisfied with available medical services, set out to build a new hospital. J.M. Weinzapfel donated the land and spearheaded the efforts to make the hospital a reality. In 1960, the Benedictine Order of Sisters promised Muenster residents that they would provide nurses to operate the hospital. Sister Mildred Felderhoff leads the way as the first hospital administrator. JOB SUMMARY
Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides delegated care from licensed nursing personnel to patients, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent preferred; Certified Nurse's Aide certification preferred; Current BLS required (will provided if needed); One year experience in direct patient care preferred. Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
General knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Possesses skills of active listening, critical thinking, oral comprehension, and time management.PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently. May involve exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force in some situations. Up to 20 lbs. of force to constantly move objects.BEHAVIOR STANDARDS

Maintains a neat, organized and safe work area; follow safety policies; makes an effort to maintain the facility; uses proper lifting techniques (e.g. utilize appropriate transfer devices, lift equipment and body mechanics); report all accidents and safety hazards promptly; takes appropriate actions to correct or prevent recurrence. Timekeeping:
Uses time clock consistently when coming to work, leaving work, lunch breaks, and anytime leaving the facility grounds for personal reasons; turns in adjustments, leave requests, etc. timely.POSITION TASKS
Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial, physical condition, and age specific needs within the nursing assistant's scope of practice. Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, height, oxygen saturation, and intake-output. Provides general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan, commode and ambulating patients. Provides morning /evening care which may include bathing, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning over bed table and bedside stand, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the shift. Prepares patients for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients if necessary. Distributes drinking water and snacks to patients as applicable. Answers patients' call lights, anticipates patients' needs and makes rounds of assigned patients. Demonstrates ability to communicate to the licensed personnel any observed changes in patient status and responses, including complaints of pain. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and general patient population. Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answers questions within scope of practice. Under the direction of supervising nurse, performs basic clinical skills including: assisting with wound care, glucometer reading, EKG, oxygen therapy. Assists with patient admissions, discharge and transfers. Meets current documentation standards and policies and completes within shift. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
