SUMMARY:
The Nursing Simulation Assistant supports faculty and students by facilitating simulation activities, skills acquisition, student feedback, and other aspects of student learning in the Nursing Simulation Center (NSC) Qualifications (Required and Preferred) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Candidate must show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility. Must meet accrediting body criteria to teach in Associate Degree Nursing Program.PREFERRED
Master's Degree in nursing, nursing education/simulation experience preferred.CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES
Registered Nurse with current Texas license with no stipulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will: Responsible for assisting faculty with skills competency testing Prepare supplies/equipment for skills demonstrations Assist faculty with setting up simulated experiences for students Assist students in remedial activities to enhance learning of psychomotor skills Maintain equipment, simulators, and technological devices/necessities Ensure the NSC is kept clean and well ordered Cultivate health teacher-student relationships Engage students in active learning Provide feedback on student performance in simulated environments Demonstrate professional written and oral skills in communications with students Incorporate best practices for learning and in simulation Maintain accessibility to students for consultation Seek feedback to improve quality of teaching Maintains evidence of professional growth and development related to area of teaching Demonstrate a willingness to incorporate new concepts and theories to enhance professional growth Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the simulation setting Gathers and interprets/analyzes data to improve student performance/outcomes Maintains competency with Electronic Health Record system for utilization during student skill performance and simulation Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students Fosters collegiality within the department/division Adhere to the policies of the college and department Perform job-related duties as assignedSOCIAL CONSTRUCTS REQUIRED OF POSITION

Primarily moderate activity is required with frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting and manipulation of objects 40 pounds or more with assistance.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a classroom or simulation lab environment.WORK SCHEDULE
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK

Regular, full-time twelve (12) month faculty and staff accrue Annual Leave as follows:Years of Service :

10 plus years Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Month) =12 Accrual Rate (Maximum Accrual Hours per Year) =144 Annual leave may be accrued up to a limit of 240 hours with special provisions allowing for annual accruals above that limit. Faculty with contracts less than 12 months do not accrue Annual Leave but are provided with 20 hours of personal time per fiscal year.SICK LEAVE ACCRUALS
Faculty and Administrative Staff:
Accruals of 8 hours per month. Sick Leave may be accrued up to a limit of 1040 total hours. Faculty with contracts less than 12 months will receive accruals during the summer semester if they instruct during that time.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HOLIDAYS

Temple College is one of the few community colleges in the state of Texas to be permitted Federal Social Security deductions. Temple College is a Section 218 employer. All regular employees are mandated by the Texas State Legislature to enroll in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) however, ORP participation is based upon position.
