Now Hiring Reliable Caregivers (PCA/CNA) - Portsmouth Area Hamptonroads Home Care Portsmouth, VA Job Details Full-time $15 an hour 1 day ago Benefits 401(k) Qualifications Computer literacy Assisting with ADLs High school diploma or GED Driver's License CNA Bathing assistance Full Job Description Position Summary We are currently hiring compassionate and reliable caregivers, including CNAs and PCAs, to provide quality support to clients in their homes and care communities. This role focuses on helping individuals maintain comfort, independence, and overall well-being through daily assistance and companionship. Key Responsibilities Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager and according to individualized care plans, caregivers may assist with: Providing companionship and emotional support Helping clients with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and wheelchair assistance Assisting with meal preparation, grocery shopping, and nutritional support Supporting personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting Performing light housekeeping and laundry duties Giving medication reminders and assisting with self-administered medications Observing and documenting client conditions, including intake and output when needed Transporting or accompanying clients to appointments and errands Documentation & Team Communication Maintain accurate records using electronic visit verification systems Report changes in client condition, safety concerns, or unusual behaviors to supervisors Complete required annual training and attend scheduled staff meetings Ideal Candidate The ideal caregiver is dependable, patient, respectful, and passionate about helping others. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and provide compassionate care in a variety of settings. Qualifications & Skills Experience caring for seniors or individuals requiring daily assistance Knowledge of dementia and memory-care support preferred Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Basic technology skills, including phone and email use Understanding of health and safety regulations Ability to adapt to different care environments and client needs Strong commitment to ethical and confidential care practices Work Conditions This position is hands-on and requires physical activity such as standing, bending, lifting, and assisting with mobility. Care is provided in client homes and residential care settings. This is an in-person role. At least 18 years old High school diploma or GED equivalent Current CNA license or PCA certification Previous caregiving experience preferred Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and updated TB test clearance Minimum Requirements At least 18 years old High school diploma or GED equivalent Current CNA license or PCA certification Previous caregiving experience preferred Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and updated TB test clearance
