NMC is currently recruiting a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) in the Progressive Care Unit, day shift. The position is full-time (72 hours bi-weekly), generally 7a-7:30p & every other weekend. JOB SUMMARY
The LNA plans and implements assigned patient care in collaboration with the nursing staff on the unit. The LNA provides direct patient care for patients of all age groups under a wide variety of circumstances, including patient sitting/care companion and documents patient information. The LNA will also provide support on the assigned unit that may include reception and clerical functions while interacting professionally with staff to facilitate a healing environment for staff, patients, families and visitors. After training the LNA will perform EKG's and phlebotomy procedures as necessary.PRE-REQUISITES
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent with a current licensure as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of Vermont.Experience:
Experience as a LNA in a hospital setting preferred. Computer experience required. Phlebotomy and ECG experience preferred.Certifications:
BLS requiredOther:

Lifts, positions and/or transfers patients; pushes, moves and lifts heavy equipment/supplies; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching; prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking; manual dexterity in using office equipmentWorking Conditions:
Exposure to crisis or hostile situations, infectious diseases/blood borne pathogens, and/or unpleasant elements of acute injuries from traumatic accidents as well as working with family members in their time of stress. 1. Manages self and resources effectively. Acknowledge limits of experience and capabilities Identifies learning needs and seeks resources Utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately Maintain clean, orderly environment of care Ensures traffic control in "sensitive areas" Requests assistance appropriately Seeks out and accepts feedback 2. Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner evidenced by: Talks with and listens to patients/team members Reports pertinent, concise information Complete timely clinical documentation Protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues 3. Performs basic care to patients under the guidance of the nursing staff: Performs bedside point of care testing accurately and according to policies and procedures and reports results to appropriate staff member Obtains patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration, oxygen saturation and pulse. Reports findings to nursing staff. Provides personal care to patients, including hygiene, feeding, toileting, and ambulating Performs phlebotomy and ECG procedures as necessary 4. Demonstrates the unit specific skills requisite for unit/patient population served 5. See unit specific competencies Performs clerical duties as needed to support staff and patients Checks and maintains equipment, checks, stocks and orders supplies, and manages outdates 6. Provides clerical support to staff, providers and patients as required: Utilizes electronic and paper systems to provide efficient and quality service to the stakeholders Maintains completeness of the EMR for the unit specific needs 7. Completes safety companion training and serves in this capacity as needed while also assisting with restraint application and care as outlined in NMC's Policy and Protocol, and maintain seizure precautions.
