Position Title:
Resident Care Manager, Memory Support Overview:
The Resident Care Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, resident engagement, staff oversight, and quality of life initiatives within the Memory Support neighborhood. This role ensures residents living with cognitive impairment experience meaningful engagement, compassionate care, dignity, safety, and the highest possible quality of life. The Resident Care Manager provides direct oversight to Memory Support CNAs and caregiving staff while partnering closely with nursing, Life Enrichment, and leadership teams to ensure engagement is integrated into daily care routines. This position is intended to maintain and enhance a therapeutic environment that promotes independence, purposeful living, and emotional well-being for residents. The performance of duties within this position is in accordance with the mission, values, and hospitality philosophy of the organization. This position reports to the Director of Memory Support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Resident Engagement & Quality of Life Actively engage with residents throughout the day through conversation, activities, redirection, emotional support, and personalized interactions Ensure every resident has opportunities for meaningful engagement, social connection, and purposeful activity daily Lead and participate in group, small group, and one-on-one engagement opportunities tailored to resident abilities and interests Promote non-pharmacological interventions and meaningful engagement approaches to support behavioral and emotional well-being Identify residents at risk for isolation or decreased participation and implement engagement interventions Maintain a therapeutic, structured, and welcoming environment that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life Program Oversight & Collaboration Work collaboratively with the Life Enrichment department to review, approve, and support the monthly Memory Support activity calendar and programming Ensure activities are appropriate for residents' cognitive abilities, emotional needs, and functional levels Adapt programming in real-time based on resident mood, participation, preferences, and behaviors Provide recommendations to improve resident participation and engagement outcomes Ensure engagement occurs throughout the day beyond scheduled activities and programs Staff Supervision, Coaching & Training Supervise Memory Support CNAs, caregivers, and assigned associates within the neighborhood Participate in interviewing and hiring recommendations in collaboration with the Director of Memory Support Ensure CNAs incorporate meaningful engagement and conversation into daily care routines and resident interactions Identify staff training needs and provide ongoing education, coaching, and in-services related to: Dementia care approaches Meaningful engagement techniques Redirection and communication strategies Activity participation support Resident-centered care practices Develop and reinforce engagement expectations for caregiving staff Monitor staff performance and resident interactions to ensure quality care and engagement standards are met Assist with orientation and onboarding of new caregivers and support development of preceptor and mentorship processes Assist with scheduling coordination and staffing support as needed Resident Care Coordination Support nursing leadership with resident care coordination, observations, and communication regarding resident changes in condition or behavior Assist with resident admissions, transitions, room moves, and return from leave of absences as directed Support completion of assessments, evaluations, and care planning processes in collaboration with nursing and leadership Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed and ensure associates provide safe, respectful, and competent care Communicate resident concerns, behavioral trends, and continuum of care needs to the Director of Memory Support Family & Resident Communication Build positive relationships with residents, families, and responsible parties Provide support, comfort, reassurance, and communication regarding resident engagement and daily experiences Encourage family involvement whenever possible Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally Participate in family meetings, care conferences, and interdisciplinary discussions as needed Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) rules, regulations, and company policies Assist with implementation of quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives Monitor resident participation, engagement outcomes, behavioral trends, and quality indicators Assist with incident reporting follow-up and communication as needed Ensure documentation related to engagement and resident participation is accurate and completed timely Maintain confidentiality of resident, family, and organizational information Operations & Community Support Support daily operations of the Memory Support neighborhood in collaboration with nursing and leadership teams Assist with responding to resident emergencies and provide first aid as needed, including activating emergency medical services (911) when appropriate Participate in Manager on Duty rotation and assigned leadership responsibilities as needed Participate in internal and external marketing efforts supporting Memory Support services Attend required education, training, and departmental meetings Respond to fire alarms and assist with evacuation procedures when necessary Cooperate with all departments to support overall community operations Represent the organization with professionalism, compassion, and strong customer service
CRITICAL SKILLS & EXPERTISE
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with memory-impaired residents Compassionate, patient, calm, flexible, and reassuring demeanor Strong coaching and staff supervision abilities Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in stressful situations Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Self-motivated, organized, and resident-focused Ability to create meaningful connections with residents, families, and staff
PHYSICAL REQUIREMNTS
Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds Prolonged standing and walking throughout the community while conducting rounds and assisting residents
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor environment including resident apartments and common areas Potential exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids Fast-paced healthcare and residential environment requiring flexibility and responsiveness
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, or related field preferred One to three years experience in memory care, assisted living, skilled nursing, or geriatric healthcare setting One to three years supervisory or leadership experience preferred Minimum one year experience working with individuals living with dementia-related conditions preferred CPR certification required Successful completion of required pre-employment screenings including health, TB, and FDLE clearance Genuine passion for serving older adults in a memory care environment
