Exempt Position Summary:
The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and operation of the nursing home in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies. The Administrator ensures the highest quality of resident care, strong financial performance, staff engagement, and regulatory compliance. This position serves as the key liaison between residents, families, staff, and governing bodies, promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and compassion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Operations Management:
Direct and oversee all aspects of the facility's day-to-day operations, including nursing, dietary, social services, housekeeping, maintenance, and business office functions. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care that promotes residents' health, safety, and well-being. Lead and motivate department heads and staff to achieve facility goals and objectives. Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout the building to foster communication, trust, and engagement. Conduct regular management meetings to review operations, compliance, and quality initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations , including CMS, OSHA, and Department of Health standards. Prepare for and participate in annual surveys, audits, and inspections, ensuring prompt correction of any deficiencies. Oversee Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement ( QAPI ) programs and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by regulations and facility policies.
Financial Management:
Develop, manage, and monitor the facility budget in collaboration with department heads and corporate leadership. Oversee billing, collections, payroll, and purchasing to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficiency. Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to meet revenue and cost objectives. Ensure proper maintenance of financial and operational documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
Staff Development & Human Resources:
Recruit, hire, train, and retain qualified staff in accordance with facility staffing needs and regulatory requirements. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth. Conduct performance evaluations and implement disciplinary action when necessary. Promote staff education, in-service training, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Resident & Family Relations:
Ensure that residents' rights, dignity, and privacy are respected and upheld at all times. Respond promptly and effectively to resident or family concerns, complaints, and grievances. Maintain open, positive communication with residents, families, and community partners. Oversee admission and discharge processes to ensure smooth transitions and appropriate placement.
Strategic Planning & Community Relations:
Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance quality care, compliance, and financial sustainability. Represent the facility positively within the community and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, referral sources, and regulatory agencies. Lead emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
Qualifications:
Must possess a current and valid Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in the state of employment. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of management experience in long-term care or healthcare administration. Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations, reimbursement systems, and survey processes . Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, lead diverse teams, and maintain regulatory compliance. Compassionate and committed to resident-centered care.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations professionally.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position, generally Monday through Friday. Must be available for on-call responsibilities , emergencies, and occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
