Position Summary:
Provides and manage resident care; administer medications and treatments while ensuring proper procedures are being followed. Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect, and receive quality care according to individualized care plans. Ensure the safety of residents.
Responsibilities:
 Perform daily resident rounds, including medication, as required.  Perform rounds with physicians and communicate new orders to staff and family members as required.  Ensure that clinical staff review resident's care plans at the beginning of each shift prior to providing care to residents.  Participates in the delivery of resident care (bathing, feeding, toileting, et cetera) as assigned.  Assists with clinical record documentation audits as assigned.  Schedule resident care staff as assigned.  Checks incoming MARs (medications and treatments) against physician orders for accuracy.  Chart and document care of residents, including medications and treatments  Conducts monthly medication administration audits to identify opportunities for improvement. Uses standardized audit tool to conduct MAR audits. Provides feedback concerning audit to Administrator. (Pharmacist also conducts on-site medication administration audit on a quarterly basis. Pharmacist also provides feedback to Regional Director and Administrator.)  Accurately follows medication administration policies and procedures and serves as back-up to Resident Care Specialist for administration of medications  Order / re-order medical supplies and prescriptions as assigned.  Serves as back-up to Administrator, when indicated.  Assists with evaluation of residents during admission.  Conducts building tours for placement of potential residents, when assigned.  Captures charges for billing of ancillary services/products, when assigned.  Participates in data collection and performance improvement reporting processes.  Attends scheduled staff meetings.  Maintains effective communication and working relationship with Administrator and co-workers.  Assists Administrator with staff disciplinary processes, when indicated.  Participates in staff orientation.  Completes annual competency skills checklist (clinical skills).  Monitors daily work assignments of staff to ensure efficiency.  Supports and adheres to company Safety Program and safety policies and procedures.  Ensures confidentiality of resident health information in accordance with HIPAA.  Performs housekeeping, laundry, and other tasks as assigned.  Ensures safe environment for residents, family members, co-workers, et cetera.  Support, reinforce, communicate, and defend the mission, vision, values, philosophy and culture of the organization.
Qualifications:
 High School Diploma or GED is required.  At least six months recent experience as a caregiver; at least six months recent experience in medication administration; knowledge of care related to an elderly population  Must be able to operate blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, diabetic equipment, needles, syringes and any other specialized medical equipment as needed to provide resident care.  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Inside/Outside:
100% Inside  Must be able to participate in one-person and two-person transfers/lifts and change resident position to accommodate resident mobility needs.  Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
