Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Director of Residential Care is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and operation of the Assisted Living program, ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and effective coordination of clinical, administrative, and support services. This role promotes resident safety, well-being, and satisfaction while supporting organizational goals and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Operations & Resident Care Oversight - 50% Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate Assisted Living services in accordance with regulations and organizational standards. Oversee resident care, ensuring individualized service plans meet physical, mental, and psychosocial needs. Conduct resident assessments, monitor condition changes, and coordinate appropriate level-of-care transitions. Ensure quality outcomes through daily rounds, care plan oversight, and service delivery monitoring. Promote resident rights, dignity, independence, and overall well-being. Serve as liaison between staff, residents, families, and leadership. Supervise, schedule, and evaluate direct care staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels. Lead recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention initiatives, including mentor programs. Provide coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed. Manage staffing schedules, documentation systems, and departmental workflows. Foster a team-oriented culture focused on high-quality resident care. 2. Marketing, Admissions & Community Relations - 30% Support sales and marketing efforts to promote Assisted Living and Memory Care services. Conduct pre-admission assessments and provide recommendations for placement. Build relationships with referral sources and community partners. Provide tours and assist with admission and discharge process as needed. 3. Clinical Coordination & Medical Records Management - 10% Oversee accurate and timely documentation of medical records. Ensure compliance with physician orders, lab results, medication management, and required assessments. Coordinate care plan meetings with interdisciplinary teams, residents, and families. Monitor infection control, fall prevention, and safety programs. Ensure timely communication of changes in resident condition to appropriate parties. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing assisted living. Conduct audits (medical records, medication carts, staffing, etc.) to maintain survey readiness. Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions. Maintain a safe environment through adherence to infection control and safety protocols. 4. Compliance & Training - 5% Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of resident and staff information. Attend and ensure staff participation in mandatory in-services, meetings, and ongoing training. Educate staff on policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Promote exceptional customer service through compassionate and empathetic care. 5. Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
Supervisory experience in assisted living, long-term care, or related healthcare setting required. Experience working with geriatric populations, including Alzheimer's/dementia care preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Must have a valid driver's license. Current CPR/First Aid and Medication Technician certification required (or ability to obtain).
Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Ability to supervise staff and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong knowledge of assisted living regulations, policies, and procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families, staff, and external partners.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physical activities, such as bending and reaching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
