Full Job Description Resident Services Manager:
The Resident Services Manager (RSM) is responsible for overseeing resident care services, clinical coordination, medication management oversight, assessments, service plans, staff training, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance for both Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. The RSM ensures that resident care is provided in accordance with all applicable Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) regulations, facility policies, resident rights, and standards of practice. The RSM works closely with the Executive Director, Administrator, physicians, pharmacies, families, and direct care staff to promote resident health, safety, dignity, and quality of life. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResident Assessments & Service Plans Complete pre-admission assessments to determine appropriateness for admission. Coordinate and maintain Uniform Assessment Instruments (UAI) and resident evaluations. Develop, implement, and update Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
Conduct assessments:
Upon admission Following significant changes in condition Following hospitalization As required by Virginia regulations Ensure residents receive services consistent with their assessed needs. Monitor residents for changes in physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral status. Memory Care Oversight Oversee specialized care services for residents with cognitive impairment. Ensure Memory Care programming meets Virginia Special Care Unit requirements. Monitor residents for wandering, elopement risk, behaviors, and safety concerns. Ensure appropriate interventions are implemented and documented. Participate in behavior management planning and family communication. Medication Management Oversee medication administration systems and compliance. Monitor Medication Administration Records (MARs) for accuracy. Ensure medication orders are current and properly transcribed. Coordinate pharmacy services and medication reviews. Investigate medication errors and implement corrective actions. Ensure medication aides maintain compliance with Virginia Board of Nursing requirements. Medication administration staff must be properly licensed or registered as Medication Aides under Virginia regulations. Regulatory Compliance Maintain knowledge of all applicable Virginia Assisted Living Facility regulations (22VAC40-73). Participate in state surveys, inspections, investigations, and plans of correction.
Conduct routine audits of:
Resident records MARs Service plans Incident reports Staffing documentation Ensure compliance with resident rights, infection control, medication management, emergency preparedness, and memory care requirements. Virginia facilities caring for residents with cognitive impairment must comply with additional special care unit requirements. Staff Leadership & Training Supervise Resident Care Coordinators, Medication Aides, Caregivers, and Resident Assistants. Provide orientation and ongoing education to care staff. Conduct competency evaluations and performance reviews. Ensure all direct care staff maintain required certifications and annual training. Assist with staffing schedules and staffing compliance. Family & Physician Communication Serve as primary clinical contact for residents and families. Communicate changes in condition promptly. Coordinate physician appointments and follow-up recommendations. Participate in family conferences and care planning meetings. Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, hospice providers, and outside agencies. Quality Assurance Investigate incidents, falls, medication errors, and resident concerns. Implement corrective action plans when necessary. Monitor infection prevention practices. Conduct routine resident care rounds. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Virginia Regulatory Knowledge Requirements The Resident Services Manager must demonstrate working knowledge of: Virginia Assisted Living Facility Regulations (22VAC40-73) Resident Rights Admission and retention criteria Uniform Assessment Instrument (UAI) Individualized Service Plans (ISP) Memory Care / Special Care Unit regulations Medication Management regulations Incident reporting requirements Abuse, neglect, and exploitation reporting requirements Emergency preparedness and evacuation procedures Infection prevention and control Documentation standards Staff training requirements Virginia Board of Nursing Medication Aide regulations The RSM must understand that facilities are required to maintain an approved medication management plan and ensure staff administering medications are properly trained and supervised. Minimum QualificationsRequired Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) preferred. Minimum two (2) years of experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, or Senior Living. Supervisory experience. Experience with resident assessments and care planning. Knowledge of Virginia Assisted Living Regulations. Strong documentation and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours and participate in on-call rotation.
Must have:
Assisted Living experience Memory Care experience. Experience with electronic health records. Experience with state surveys and regulatory compliance.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
