We are seeking an Executive Director for our Assisted Living and Memory Care community at Vineyard Park Mercer Island. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management and direction of services including:
  • Operational organization planning and budgeting to assure the availability and provision of care and services
  • Ensuring organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Monitoring and managing business operations to ensure financial stability in accordance with established fiscal parameters
  • Planning, developing, implementing, administering and evaluating programs
  • Providing leadership for conflict and complaint management resolution at the site
  • Ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing as well as staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and performance improvement
EXPANDS REVENUE / CONTAINS COSTS
  • Develops, implements and maintains key contractual relationships with SNF, hospitals, ALF, physicians and other healthcare organizations, in accordance with state and federal law, to accomplish overall company business plans and yearly revenue budgets; establishes on-going relationships with other key officials of contracting entities
COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION
  • Represents the company as the official spokesperson within the community; manages public relations; generates and responds to all opportunities for medical requests in coordination with the corporate communication department; assures the handling/resolution of any complaints from patients, families or the public
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
  • Participates in quality improvement reviews and evaluations of clinical services
  • Continually assesses and evaluates hospice services, patient outcomes, family / patient satisfaction, cost of services, LOS and operational effectiveness to ensure optimal care delivery
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Direct the implementation of written policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives of the organization and the community. 2. Ensure that all personnel, residents, visitors and the general public follow established policies and procedures. 3. Review policies and procedures periodically, at least annually, and recommend changes necessary to ensure compliance with current regulations. 4. Understand and ensure that all federal and state guidelines and regulations required to manage a licensed community are carried out consistently. 5. Recruit, select, and train competent department directors/managers. Provide guidance in the hiring of other personnel. Responsible for oversight of all direct reports (department managers), including efficient use of delegatory abilities. 6. Provide hands-on, direct leadership and guidance to the sales and marketing/census development function. 7. Stay aware of all resident dynamics and, alongside the Director of Resident Care, make adjustments as necessary to ensure the continued ability to provide quality resident care. 8. Responsible for planning, input, and execution of an annual operating budget implemented and approved by the operating company. 9. Prepares monthly financial variance analysis based on prior month's financial performance to budget. 10. Allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the community. 11. Cooperates to fullest extent with all municipal, county, state and federal agencies which maintain any regulatory authority over the community, including licensure bureaus, fire safety and disaster preparedness groups. 12. Work with company officials to ensure that adequate financial records are maintained to enable required documents and cost reports to be submitted to the authorized government agencies as required. 13. Authorize the purchase of major equipment as authorized by the operating company. 14. Maintain overall authority for every department in the community. Meet with the department supervisors on a regularly scheduled basis concerning the operations of their departments where finances and quality are concerned. 15. Ensure that public relations and marketing activities result in a favorable image of the community's programs on a local and state level. 16. Assure that an adequate number of appropriately trained professional personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents. 17. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care and other confidential information. 18. Maintain or ensure that Business Office keeps current any licenses required by state or federal agencies in order to manage the community both for self and employees. 19. Manage family, guest and professional relations in a way that benefits the long term satisfaction, outcomes, and occupancy of the community. 20. Perform any other duties that may assigned. Qualifications•
Education, Experience, and Skills:
1. Must have excellent communication skills. 2. College degree is required. A bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Gerontology, Business Administration or other health field is preferred. 3. Must have Assisted Living Manager's Certification as required by state regulation. 4. Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a health related community.
Associated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must display genuine interest in seniors and compassion for the aging; must possess an openness in maintaining a multi-disciplined team approach to health care of the elderly; must possess ability to maintain/strengthen good working relationship with staff, residents and families; must possess good skills in planning, organizing, directing and managing all work assignments. Must possess a good sense of efficiency and in successfully completing all work assignments; must be knowledgeable and supportive of the Community's philosophy and objectives; must be flexible and open to change; must be knowledgeable of current regulatory standards; may be required to work extra hours and/or be on call during off hours. Must have necessary computer and technology skills to operate the community. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and model professional demeanor at all times.
