Job Title Assistant or Associate Professor, Nursing (Tenure-track) Position Number TBD Salary Commensurate with experience FLSA Exempt Employment Status Full Time 9 Mos Regular Appointment Type Full-time Tenure Track General Description The University of Montevallo's Department of Nursing and Health Sciences housed within the College of Health Professions invite applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position in Nursing at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. Assigned teaching responsibilities include undergraduate teaching with prelicensure students in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings. Specifically, the successful candidate will teach maternal child/reproductive health and/or nursing care of children as well as other nursing courses. Summer teaching may be required for this position and compensation will be provided. This position is designed for a dynamic nurse educator committed to excellence in teaching, student mentoring, and scholarly engagement. The successful candidate will participate in academic advising; curriculum development and program assessment; establish an independent line of scholarly activity/research and publish in scholarly journals; and provide service to the program, department, college, university, and community. Essential Job Duties Primary teaching responsibilities are in the undergraduate prelicensure track teaching maternal/child/reproductive health and/or nursing care of children and will include additional nursing courses (including the RN to BSN track courses) based on qualifications. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, scholarship/research, service to the program, department, college, university, and the community. Additional Duties Education and Experience Doctoral degree in nursing, is required for candidates seeking appointment at Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Preferred Education and Experience Documented experience and excellence in teaching; peer-reviewed publications in translational, human subjects research; evidence of successful advising at the undergraduate level; simulation experience or certified healthcare simulation educator; membership and involvement in professional organizations; familiarity with the AACN Essentials and the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education organizations. Licenses, Certification or Registrations Must possess an unencumbered registered nursing (RN) license in Alabama, multistate RN license, or be eligible for Alabama RN licensure prior to beginning employment. Maintains American Heart Association BLS HCP certification.
