Job Description
The primary task of the EVENING adjunct instructor at Southern Union State Community College is to instruct students in activities designed to promote intellectual growth. Essential duties and responsibilities of an instructor include commitments to students in the classroom, the teaching discipline, students outside the classroom, the College, and the community. The adjunct instructor is subject to work at any sites and locations served by the College based on student and operational demands.
SALARY :
Adjunct instructors in the academic fields are paid $600.00 per credit hour taught, not to exceed 19 hours per week. Demonstrate knowledge and competency in teaching assigned courses. Plan, organize, and instruct coursework using the master course shell provided by the Department Chairperson/Program Director. Maintain updated syllabi, outcomes, and gradebooks in the College learning management system (LMS) according to the guidelines in the Instructional Handbook. Use a method of instruction appropriate to the type of learning required but not limited to lecture, lab, or clinical. Instruct students using a variety of delivery modes, including face-to-face, hybrid, virtual or online. Utilize written objectives as criteria for evaluation for student performance. Provide academic and career counseling to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences. Administer evaluations for grade determination each semester. Compute student grades and enter into mySUSCC by the deadlines each semester. Perform duties within established time frames (e.g. attendance verification, official rolls, grades, etc.) Measure and use student learning outcomes to create a process of continuous instructional improvement. Maintain appropriate and timely communications with students according to Distance Education and departmental policies.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or equivalent (at least sixty (60) semester hours in a planned program in a relevant technical field from an accredited institution is required .
- Three (3) years successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the occupational or technical field is required .
- Must pursue industry recognized credentials as determined by the College is required .
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Documentation of industry recognized credentials is preferred.
- Documentation of industry sponsored training is preferred.
- Teaching experience is preferred.
