Job Description

JOB Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The Automotive Technology Instructor is responsible to the Division Chair and/or the appropriate Associate Dean for planning, preparing, and presenting appropriate and effective learning experiences to students.

ACCS Salary Schedule D:
$42,108•$94,363 (9 months) An additional summer assignment may be available: $13,001•$29,184 (3 months) Salary placement based on experience and educational level for placement on the Alabama State Salary Schedule D1. Additional salary may be available, but is not guaranteed, for summer employment. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Teach classes and/or labs as assigned. Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day, evening, or weekend, at any campus/instructional site deemed necessary, including dual enrollment, traditional classroom, hybrid or web format. Assist students as an advisor in developing class schedules, program planning, and career counseling. Maintain updated course syllabi for all courses taught and provide a syllabus to all students enrolled in the class. Each faculty member will adhere to the course syllabus. Review and recommend revision of curriculum periodically and provide input to the college-wide curriculum committee. Assist in the development of course offerings each term. Maintain all records as needed for the instructional program. Participate on college-wide committees as assigned. Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences. Provide library information to students. Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty, and the college community. Maintain safe practices in classroom and laboratory. Actively recruit students for the program and the College. Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, attendance rosters, absences, withdrawal, and/or class drop information to appropriate offices. Compile and dispense necessary reports, in a timely manner. Participate in the planning and budgeting processes of the division. Assist in the coordination of the institutional effectiveness plan. Participate in and facilitate advisory committee meetings. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies. Attend faculty and staff meetings. Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours. Participate in approved professional development activities through professional organizations, seminars, and programs designed to maintain and improve skills. Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Employee Handbook, and the ACCS Policy Publications; and follow such policies and procedures. Assume all other duties assigned by the Division Chair and/or College Administration.
