- Full-time Mission The objective of the VN Instructor position is to ensure that students of Career Care Institute receive the most current training available in their chosen field of education.
Education/Experience :
(A)Registered Nurse:
Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse; and Hold an advanced degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and Have a minimum of two years' experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the last five years. (B)Licensed Vocational Nurse:
Hold a current California active license as a Vocational Nurse; and Have a minimum of two years' experience as a vocational nurse within the last five years. Hold an advanced degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and Duties and Responsibilities In addition to the general responsibility, the is responsible for the following duties: Participate in the instruction of students Cooperate with the Campus Director, Assistant Campus Director, Receptionist, Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Career Services, and Faculty Open and close classrooms as assigned Clock in and out accordingly (Lunch breaks and 10-minute rest breaks) Provide academic support to students experiencing difficulty progressing in the program through tutoring, remediation and guidance Monitor student activities and physical facilities for safety compliance Uphold and enforce school policies Ensuring compliance with the student dress code Reporting attendance concerns, including absences and tardiness Monitoring student assignments and academic progress, including grades Addressing and documenting students conduct violations Document all private discussions with students pertaining to school using available tools such as incident reports, progress reports and/or Student Advisement Form Provide weekly audit reports Required to attend all staff meetings Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements in their field of instruction, as well as Career Care Institute policies, rules, syllabi, lesson plans, and the current school catalog Monitor student breaks to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations Use designated prep time to prepare for class in advance Cooperate with supervisors, director(s), students, and advisory board members for improvement of the curriculum. Have expertise in their field and able to demonstrate all training procedures. Ensure continuous supervision of students at all times, in the classroom and clinical settings Report any major problems to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Campus Director, Assistant Campus Director and/or Human Resources. Follow the syllabus provided by Career Care Institute, delivering instruction in accordance with the prescribed course objectives, content, and schedule Monitor inventory to ensure adequate supplies, place orders in advance to allow for shipping, and coordinate with the Clinical Coordinator as needed Demonstrate professional behavior and demeanor at all times with students and with CCI staff Ensure confidentiality in all matters concerning staff and students, while accurately reporting and documenting issues and discussions in accordance with school policies Discourage classroom disruptions or engaging in excessive talking regarding non-school related issues. Avoid using personal electronic devices in the classroom/clinical setting Avoid having food and drinks other than bottled water in the classroom/clinical setting Maintain current CPR/BLS card and/or instructor card Maintain on file the following required health documentation: Annual physical Annual negative skin or biannual negative chest x-ray for TB Titers showing immunity to MMR and Varicella Titer showing immunity to hepatitis B or signed and dated declination waiver Current influenza vaccine Current COVID vaccination COVID original or digital card containing all administered doses Be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time Be able to turn, lift and transfer patients Demonstrate the physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, including handling patients and/or equipment safely Be able to perform the above duties without limitations which might cause injury to themselves, students or the clients in the clinical setting Provide notice of extended leave 30 days in advance All problems concerning employee issues are to be addressed to the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, Campus Director, Assistant Campus Director and/or Human Resources in a courteous and professional manner Instructors are prohibited from using their authority to influence students in favor of personal interests or to undermine the policies or decisions of the school administration Instructors must not use sick time to free themselves for employment elsewhere To the extent reasonable, instructors are to prepare for all planned leave and provide lesson plans for all absences resultant from scheduled leave and coordinate scheduled leave with the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing Routinely review exams, tests and if applicable quizzes on a weekly basis Provide progress reports for students on a regular basis Arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of class Participate in instructor evaluations by completing self-evaluations and reviewing evaluation feedback in a timely manner Provide a thorough orientation for students that have just entered the classroom.
