105513 Salary Information This is a temporary full-time non-bargaining faculty position and is not on track for continuing contract. The standard contract length is 228 days; however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs.
DESCRIPTION
Faculty responsibilities will include teaching and support of student learning; curriculum development; support of college policies and procedures; participation in department and college activities and committees; and engagement with external partners and the community at large. Works in a classroom/lab environment with a diverse student population. Works in a variety of clinical agencies including hospitals; long-term care facilities and community agencies. Responsibilities Provides hands-on clinical supervision and support to students in a healthcare facility, community agency, or laboratory setting. This full-time, temporary contract position requires regular travel to clinical sites and offers a dynamic schedule with flexible hours. The role plays a critical part in guiding students through their practical training and ensuring a high-quality clinical learning experience.
Essential Functions:
Provides and coordinates clinical teaching activities in the hospital/clinical setting to include student assignments, clinical supervision of students and evaluations. This requires the ability to move about the clinical setting. Participates in skill lab demonstrations, practice and testing of students. Assists students through observational and participative experiences to apply nursing theory, the nursing process and nursing techniques in the clinical settings. Coordinates student clinical experiences with facility's nursing staff. Maintains professional working relationship with community and clinical sites by attending in-service training, updating of policies and procedures workshops and by providing student lists to clinical agencies. Uses evidence based practices as applicable in the clinical setting. Provide regular, accurate and timely feedback to students relative to their performance. Plans and conducts student conferences. Engages and nurtures students in and beyond the classroom. Works with staff in implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures. Collaborates with the program manager to plan clinical and lab experiences, evaluation tools, clinical and schedules and computer orientations at clinical sites. This requires travel to clinical sites. Contributes to a collegial and collaborative work environment. Makes use of professional growth opportunities, including but not limited to, the SSC Faculty Institute for Teaching and Learning. Discusses instructional or related matters with course coordinator and program manager. Performs other relevant responsibilities and requested. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, ordering and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment; participating in discipline related student activities (e.g. Brain bowl).
Required Qualifications:
Master's in nursing from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum of two years of nursing experience in an acute care facility. Licensure to practice Nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or eligibility for Florida RN Licensure. Must have current CPR certification. Clinical agency may require additional qualifications (PPD, FIT test, drug/alcohol screening, etc.). Demonstrated understanding of the learning centered approach to teaching. Computer and Internet skills.

1. Work in a classroom and clinical environment This position requires candidates receiving an offer of employment to undergo a drug/alcohol test before beginning work.
