Job Description

Nursing Simulation Educator and Instructor Posted on 4/21/2026 Accepting applications About this position The Simulation Educator and Instructor of Nursing is a full-time staff position in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences. This position is primarily responsible for coordination and implementation of simulation and lab instruction to meet the educational outcomes of the nursing curriculum and is expected to teach up to one course per semester in the BSN Program. Reporting to the Simulation & Lab Manager, the position works in a collaborative team environment, programming, testing and running scenarios with faculty instructors, assuring that the facility and equipment are set up for lab and simulation teaching sessions, and providing technical support and troubleshooting of lab technology and equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Teaching in the BSN program as needed to meet the needs of the SNHS up to one course a semester. 2. Develop, implement, facilitate, and assess simulation activities. 3. Coordinate planning of simulation and lab activities with various teaching teams. 4. Coordinate student work-study lab assistants in partnership with Simulation & Lab Manager, including scheduling and day-to-day management. 5. Provide communication and feedback to the Simulation & Lab Manager on facility, technology, equipment, operational and other needs identified for overall maintenance and program functioning. 6. Collaborate with faculty, and Simulation & Lab Manager to create simulation environments. 7. Prepare simulations and make adjustments to equipment, simulated drugs, props, and other environmental variables. 8. Collaborate with faculty and Simulation & Lab Manager in the orientation and training of actors and simulation users in the control room before and during simulations. 9. Conduct manikin operation and programming 10. Operate cameras and other audiovisual equipment during scenarios and debriefings. 11. Assist with rapid patient and environmental changeovers between labs and simulations. 12. Provide set up/break down of simulated environment and labs for teaching sessions. 13. Develop moulage, costuming, staging, scripting and use of props. 14. Set up, clean, and break down equipment and supplies needed for lab classes. 15. Actively participate in student learning during open lab practice sessions. 16. Maintain simulation equipment and ensure mannequin functionality. 17. Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, repair and replacement needs for all equipment: high-fidelity, medium-fidelity, and task trainers.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS 1.
Participate in College recruitment events (prospective student tours, Day on Campus, etc.) 2. Communicate in a positive, professional manner with faculty instructors, students, and clients of the Simulation Center. 3. Participate in technical training as necessary; attend conferences to stay current with simulation technology. 4. Contributes to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College. About our ideal candidate
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE 1.
Master's degree or higher in Nursing required. 2. A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required. 3. Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification strongly preferred. 4. Proficient in MS Office presentation, spreadsheet, and database applications. 5. Excellent verbal and written communication. 6. Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently. 7. Ability to assess, troubleshoot and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion. 8. Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities and make critical decisions. 9. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 10. Self-motivated and require little to no supervision with the ability to work as a team member. 11. Ability to logically organize details. 12. Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1.
Work is performed in office and lab environments, with constant sitting, seeing, hand, wrist, and finger repetitive motions; hearing; frequent talking, walking, occasional climbing stairs, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50-75 pounds. 2. Moving frequently from one lab to another. 3. Potential for exposure to chemicals and electrical currents.
