The position provides short-term, project-based academic support for curriculum development, course design, and program review within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMH) program. This role focuses on strengthening course alignment, enhancing student learning experiences, and ensuring compliance with AACN Essentials and best practices in advanced nursing education. Position is expected to begin May 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and build course activities and assignments for: Family & Group Psychotherapy for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners Psychiatric-Mental Health Advanced Practice Nursing Across the Lifespan III Ensure course materials reflect current evidence-based practice and graduate-level rigor by incorporating active learning strategies and appropriate assessment methods, and aligning assigned courses with didactic content and other PMH clinical courses Ensure consistency in clinical objectives, competencies, and evaluation methods by providing support in the integration of clinical and didactic learning experiences. Conduct curriculum mapping & program review of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMH) curriculum using American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials 2021 by identifying gaps in content, competencies, and progression. Recommend actionable solutions/improvements to address identified gaps. Ensure appropriate scaffolding of knowledge and skills across the program. Contribute to development and alignment of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). Collaborate with the Department of Nursing Chair and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on all efforts related to curriculum development. Teach assigned course in DNP PMH specialty track. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in nursing awarded by a college or university of recognized standing; Current (or be eligible for) unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Hawai'i (must have Hawaii license by the appointment date); Experience in graduate nursing education and curriculum development; Familiarity with AACN Essentials and competency-based education frameworks. Demonstrated professionalism in meeting, interacting and conferring with others; Demonstrated competency in quality improvement projects or initiatives.
Desirable Qualifications:
Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Experience with online or hybrid course design preferred. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
