Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2026/2027Academic Year:

Objectives for this position include coordinating the Patient Care Technician Certificate program. This faculty member will also teach classes in the BNAT program. Must be able to adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Demonstrate respect for students; understand learning styles and apply understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrate integrity and promote diversity and open communications. Fifteen contact hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be day, late afternoon, evening, Saturday, Sunday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior college faculty contract.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Coordinate the Patient Care Technician Certification Program. 2.Teach classes in the PCT program appropriate to the candidate's qualifications, including theory, lab, and clinical. 3.Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support. 4.Participate in course development, assessment, revision, and planning activities. 5.Seek clinical opportunities for EKG and Phlebotomy students with a programmatic growth mindset. 6.Have and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load and keep informed of current trends in the field of nursing and long-term care. 7.Teach classes in the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program, including theory, lab, and clinical. 8.Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses, as well as CPR classes. 9.Participate in appropriate departmental meetings, committees, recruitment activities, and advisory boards. 10.Assist students with academic tutoring. 11.Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. 12.Demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission. 13.Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract. 14.Teach classes during non-traditional times (evenings and weekends) and at other clinical and campus sites as needed. 15.Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. 2.Current Illinois Licensure as Registered Nurse. 3.Completion of state-approved Train-the-Trainer and Evaluator Workshop course with approval as Basic Nurse Assistant instructor in Illinois. Or completion of this course within one year of hire. Approval must remain current. 4.American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR instructor (or obtain within 6 months). 5.Experience teaching in a Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program 6.Certification in Phlebotomy and EKG (or obtain through NHA within 6 months) 7.Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends. 8.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. 9.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master's Degree in Nursing. 2.Teaching experience at the collegiate level. 3.Experience at the community college level. 4.Three plus (3+) years' experience teaching in a BNAT program 5.Experience in teaching and online and/or using course management programs. 6.Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality, and accreditation processes, and committee engagement. 7.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds. 8.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 9.Demonstrated multicultural competence.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Standard classroom equipment and software. 2.Ability to travel between campus locations. 3.Ability to participate in lab and clinical settings without lifting or other restrictions. Excessive walking, bending, stooping, and lifting are required.WORKING CONDITIONS
