Position Summary The Department of Nursing, which offers a prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( BSN ) degree, invites applications for a full-time nursing Professor of Practice & Clinical Coordinator. The position includes a reduced teaching load to support the Clinical Coordinator's responsibilities for the BSN program. These responsibilities include serving as the primary liaison with regional clinical agencies, requesting and securing clinical placements, monitoring and tracking faculty and student placement requirements, managing agency contracts for the BSN program, and maintaining relevant practice and service commitments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach undergraduate nursing didactic and/or clinical/simulation courses in areas of expertise. Workload expectations are up to six (6) credit/contact teaching hours per semester during the first two (2) years of the appointment, decreasing to three (3) credit/contact teaching hours per semester once the initial cohort is in their third year. Create an environment that fosters student learning across all instructional settings and teaching modalities. Collaborate with faculty and administrative colleagues to develop the Nursing Department's Systematic Evaluation Plan ( SEP ), including expected levels of achievement, operating definitions, data collection strategies, timelines, and responsible parties. Conduct reliable and valid assessment of all program components, the nursing curriculum plan, state (MA BORN and national ( CCNE ) regulatory policies, student learning outcomes, and student attainment of nursing competencies. Translate nursing scholarship into both academic and clinical practice settings. Advise nursing students. Participate in the systematic evaluation of accreditation, governance, and regulatory processes within the Department. Collaborate with department colleagues on strategic planning, program development, and curriculum review. Serve on School, College, and external professional committees. Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching, translational research, and service. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Nursing. Education and/or Experience Minimum of a master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university; Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) preferred. Current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Licensure. A minimum of three (3) years of recent work experience as a registered nurse in an area that aligns with job requirements. Demonstrated expertise in assigned nursing courses. Experience teaching nursing courses at the college level is strongly preferred. Commitment to teaching excellence in the liberal arts environment. Knowledge of area clinical facilities and the Centralized Clinical Placement Database is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, clinical agencies in the region surrounding the College. Meet in person or online with authorized clinical agency personnel to negotiate clinical placements in advance of each semester. Maintain professional relationships with clinical agency contacts. Lead departmental efforts in clinical agency contract negotiation and fulfillment, with support from the Dean, Department Chair, and/or College legal team. Use or be willing to learn to use the Centralized Clinical Placement ( CCP ) software. Explore and adhere to agency requirements for partners not participating in the CCP network. Ensure faculty and student compliance each semester with CCP and agency requirements, including orientation modules, immunizations, CORI / SORI checks, drug testing, CPR certification at the level required by the agency, parking procedures, personal storage expectations, and pre- and post-conference space requirements. Become familiar with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing conditions for graduates to sit for the
NCLEX -RN
exam, including the Good Moral Character requirement. Consult with the Department Chair and/or Dean of Nursing when
CORI / SORI
results include information that may affect a student's placement. Assist faculty in arranging in-person shadowing on the clinical unit prior to the start of clinical coursework. Aid course faculty in creating student clinical groups by identifying students who are cleared for clinical and those with outstanding requirements, without disclosing confidential student information.
