Job Description:
Clinical Nursing, Adjunct Faculty Pool | Openings expected for Fall 2026 Adjunct positions are an "Open Pool" for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester. There may or may not be available openings at this time, however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. Openings are expected in both Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing (PN). Adjunct instructor positions are part-time, semester-to-semester, non-benefitted
MCCC/MTA/DCE
unit positions.
SALARY RANGE
Starting at $67.16 per hour.
THE NURSING PROGRAM
The Nursing program is directly supervised by the Dean of Nursing. Personnel include seven ADN and four PN full time faculty members, and between six to eight clinical adjunct instructors, and a full-time administrative assistant to provide support. Experienced faculty focus on quality and excellence in teaching and learning with a strong commitment to producing nursing graduates who are prepared to meet challenges in the contemporary healthcare environment including technical innovations, problem solving and critical thinking, and applied skills. GCC's nursing program is held in high regard in the region and has a long history of students exceeding the national NCLEX pass rates for ADN and PN graduates. The program curriculum is enriched with service learning experiences integrated throughout all four semesters and incorporates high fidelity patient simulation in the skills curriculum and web-enhancements in courses. Our students represent a diverse community of learners who are dedicated to achieving healthcare careers. Numerous technological platforms are used to enhance student learning and skill development.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Teaches course(s) in one or more of the ADN and PN focused topics. In your application materials, please indicate the subjects you are interested in teaching. Classes meet online, in-person, or in a hybrid modality.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teaches clinical components of Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical, Psychiatric-Mental Health, Obstetrics, and/or Pediatric course(s) in either the Associate Degree or Practical Nursing programs. Responsible for instructional preparation and assessment of student performance. Provides assistance to students by appointment. Attends a limited number of faculty meetings, including program orientation, orientation to clinical facilities, and clinical team meetings. May be requested to participate in service learning activities. Clinical affiliations may include long term care, rehabilitation and/or community sites.
Requirements:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a B.S.N. degree and five years of relevant clinical experience OR is matriculated in a graduate nursing program and has minimum of two years relevant clinical experience. Current unrestricted Massachusetts RN licensure. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. Current malpractice insurance. Willingness to obtain Certification in Nursing Education. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Nursing. Collegiate teaching experience. Experience in long term care, nursing specialty areas i.e. Pediatric, Maternal Newborn Health, and Mental Health and/or community nursing. Commitment to the mission of the community college. A demonstrated commitment to promoting domestic diversity and/or global multiculturalism in the curriculum where appropriate.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND APTITUDES
Proficiency in oral and written communication. Proficiency with technology and ability to manage technological learning platforms.
BACKGROUND CHECK
: Finalist candidates who are otherwise qualified for the position will be required to complete a Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check as a condition of employment in accordance with GCC's CORI policy .

: Official academic transcripts relevant to the position will be required upon hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located in a classroom and/or clinical setting, not subject to extreme variations of temperatures, odors etc. Moderate noise. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Operates equipment i.e. computer, calculator, copier/fax machines etc. May need experience working with basic medical equipment, IV pumps, glucose monitors, and basic nursing care. The person in this position needs to move about inside a clinical setting, classroom and/or office. Will also move about throughout the campus as needed. The person frequently communicates with students and colleagues. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. Occasional travel to and from clinical sites and/or meetings etc. Needs reliable transportation.
