Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Health and Patient Simulation, this faculty member is responsible for planning, delivering, and supervision of instruction to a diverse population of students, supporting student success and assessment of student progress. The Instructor of Certified Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Technician is responsible for the instruction of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) students in the didactic, skills lab, and clinical arenas. Providing a quality education for program students and performing instructional-related duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies and procedures of the college and the School of Health and Patient Simulation. Job responsibilities include but not limited to: Teaching & Assessment Teaches assigned CNA/PCT courses and maintains written instructional standards; facilitates instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed; informs students in writing of instructional standards; posts and maintains office hours; participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes; establishes, maintains and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner. Collaborates in the development of new courses, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, and course procedure sheets for CNA/PCT courses; assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs; analyzes CNA/PCT program effectiveness emphasizing a culture of continuous improvement. Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implements changes as necessary to maintain a successful CNA/PCT program; integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program quality. Participates in CNA course scheduling, department, division and college meetings; maintains records in compliance with statutes governing CNA education; serves on college committees as assigned. Assesses student progress towards program goals which are consistent with the College's Student Success Plan and the College's mission. Evaluates student academic performance in line with program policies, core competency standards and College procedures. Provides guidance to students in their learning and educational planning. Provide professional and respectful communication and feedback to students and collaborate with Clinical placement health care professionals. Facilities Ensures utilization, proper maintenance and inventory of specialized learning equipment and materials for safe education and student practice. Membership on the Health Science Advisory Board and attendance at biannual meetings. Mandatory participation in annual Title IX training, mandatory reporting duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.Job Requirements:
Associates' degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education. Massachusetts Registered Nurses Licensure in good standing. Minimum of one-year long term care experience. Three years of experience as a professional medical/surgical nurse. CurrentAHA BLS CPR
Certification. Desire and ability to work with a diverse student body in a cooperative environment.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties normally performed in a classroom/lab environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
