Job Description:
McDaniel College invites applications for a Full-Time Faculty Simulation Coordinator (Open Rank) to join our growing Department of Nursing. We seek a collaborative, innovative, and student-centered educator who will provide leadership in simulation-based teaching and learning while contributing to excellence in the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Simulation Coordinator serves as both a faculty member and a simulation education specialist, responsible for the oversight and coordination of the nursing simulation and laboratory learning environments. The successful candidate will design, implement, and evaluate simulation and skills lab experiences aligned with program and course outcomes, ensuring that simulation is seamlessly integrated throughout the curriculum. This position is a 12-month faculty appointment with responsibilities that combine teaching, simulation management, faculty collaboration, and active participation in the continuous improvement of the nursing program through the Systematic Evaluation Plan. The Faculty Simulation Coordinator will play a key role in preparing students for evidence-based, compassionate practice by promoting a psychologically safe, learner-centered environment that mirrors real-world nursing scenarios. Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and expertise in the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of simulation and laboratory learning experiences. Coordinate daily operations of simulation and skills labs, including scheduling, inventory management, and equipment maintenance. Ensure simulation curricula meet Maryland State Board of Nursing and national accreditation standards. Maintain documentation related to simulation operations, policies, and procedures. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment for all participants. Train and support faculty and staff in simulation pedagogy and use of simulation technologies. Orient students to the simulation and laboratory environments. Manage and provide technical support for high-fidelity simulators, task trainers, and virtual simulation tools. Serve as a liaison to internal and external partners regarding simulation practices and collaborations. Support simulation-related accreditation documentation and contribute to the program's Systematic Evaluation Plan. Participate in budget planning, grant proposals, and procurement of simulation and laboratory resources. Teach assigned nursing courses in classroom, lab, simulation, and/or clinical settings. Develop, deliver, and assess instructional materials and activities that align with program outcomes. Evaluate student learning, provide timely feedback, and implement continuous improvement strategies. Contribute to maintaining program approval and accreditation through compliance with relevant standards and reporting. Advise and mentor nursing students, supporting academic, clinical, and professional development. Participate in departmental, college, and committee service consistent with the Faculty Handbook. Mentor new faculty and contribute to faculty development in simulation and teaching excellence. Maintain active involvement in professional development, scholarship, and research related to simulation and nursing education. Represent the Nursing Department at recruitment and outreach events to promote the program and engage prospective students. Demonstrate McDaniel's culture of care through collaboration, professionalism, and responsiveness in all interactions.
Requirements:
Graduate degree in Nursing (Master's required; Doctoral degree preferred). Current Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) credential or willingness to obtain certification within two years of hire. Active, unencumbered Maryland RN license or multistate privilege to practice registered nursing. Minimum of two years of recent clinical experience as a registered nurse. At least one year of simulation or lab teaching experience, or a combination of education and professional experience relevant to the role (three years preferred). Expertise in nursing practice aligned with assigned teaching responsibilities. Demonstrated proficiency in nursing education, curriculum development, and technology-enhanced instruction. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively within academic, clinical, and interprofessional teams. Technological proficiency, including operation of simulation equipment, instructional platforms, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements related to nursing simulation and education. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and commitment to inclusive teaching practices. Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance. Candidates must comply with all related federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines including, but not limited to, FERPA and Title IX.
