Job Description

For consideration, a completed Holmes Community College on-line employment application is required. Summary This full-time, 12-month position will be responsible for planning and implementing an educational program in Practical Nursing. The individual will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in the Practical Nursing curriculum and performing other duties. The instructor will report to the Director of Health Science Programs. Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to and publicly support college policies and procedures. Plan and present course instruction based on approved syllabi to assure course objectives are taught in classroom, lab, and clinical settings through a variety of instructional methodology, reinforced through relevant assignments, and assessed through well-designed evaluation tools. Accept responsibility for the recruitment, retention, and placement of students. Maintain and submit required documentation. Assist with student registration and orientation, serving primarily as an advisor. Participate in in-service workshops, departmental meetings, etc. as scheduled. Participate in the college's ongoing Institutional Effectiveness process, including annual evaluations and reviews, strategic planning, surveys, professional development, etc. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum of graduation from an approved associate degree or diploma School of Nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience working as a registered nurse; or two (2) years' experience as faculty in a nursing/allied health program. Recent teaching experience preferred
Licenses, Certificates, or Registrations:
Must have an unencumbered registered nursing license in Mississippi. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to provide physical and psychological support to students and patients. Proficient in clinical skills. Ability to critically think. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Database management skills. Knowledge of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
