Department Chair Position Summary The Academic Clinical & Lab Instructor provides direct supervision and instruction to undergraduate nursing students in clinical practice settings, simulation environments, and skills laboratories. The instructor supports competency development, clinical judgment, professional role formation, and preparation forNCLEX-RN
success. This position typically conducts three days per week of clinical, additional laboratory instruction days, and participates in program service, student evaluation, and faculty development activities. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Instruction Supervise students in assigned clinical agencies Facilitate clinical reasoning, prioritization, and safe patient care Provide real-time coaching and feedback Ensure compliance with agency and program requirements Communicate student progress to course faculty Laboratory & Simulation Instruction Teach nursing skills and procedures using competency-based approaches Facilitate simulation scenarios including pre-briefing and debriefing Support development of clinical judgment aligned with NCLEX Next Generation expectations Maintain laboratory safety and equipment readiness Student Evaluation Assess student competencies using standardized evaluation tools Document performance and remediation needs Identify at-risk students and collaborate on support plans Participate in advising related to clinical progression Program Service Attend course and faculty meetings Contribute to simulation and skills development Support accreditation and program assessment activities Collaborate with clinical partners Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field preferred Current unencumbered RN license eligible for practice in the state Minimum 2-3 years clinical nursing experience Demonstrated commitment to teaching, mentoring, and student success Clinical teaching, precepting, or simulation experience Familiarity with competency-based education and clinical judgment models Experience using electronic clinical evaluation systems Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong patient safety and clinical judgment skills Effective communication and coaching ability Organization and documentation accuracy Ability to foster inclusive, supportive learning environments Collaboration with healthcare partners and faculty teams Work Schedule Three days per week of clinical and additional laboratory instruction days Additional time for meetings, evaluation, and faculty development Physical Requirements Ability to function in healthcare environments including standing, walking, and assisting with patient care activities Salary & Benefits Salary commensurate with education and experience.
