Job Description:

The Staff Assistant (RN) position in the campus health clinic is responsible for assessment and triage of students and appropriate referral to medical providers. Working knowledge of nursing principles and techniques, emergency treatments, medications, abnormal signs and symptoms are required. The RN also provides education and training to students and paraprofessionals as appropriate, and assists with other clinical procedures and routines as assigned. The ability to work both independently, as well as part of a team is also important. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assessment and triage of students with referral to medical provider as appropriate
• Provide education and training to students and paraprofessionals as appropriate
• Assist with other clinical procedures and routines as assigned, and participate in assessment and improvement initiatives
• Participate as appropriate in Accepted Student Day, Open House
• which will require some weekend days
• Serve on campus committees
• Participate in professional development activities
• Maintain license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State
• Promote the well-being of students to enhance retention and academic success
• Educate, counsel, and assist students regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities, and healthy behaviors
• Collaborate and/or consult with other health care organizations as appropriate on or off campus for continuity of care of the student
• Timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record system.
• Provide high quality health care according to federal and NYS laws, American College Health Association standards and SUNY Delhi and Student Health Center policies and procedures as related to college health

Requirements:

• Must have a current NYS RN license
• Must have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience
• Must have current BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Emergency room or urgent care clinical experience
• Experience with health issues for adolescents and/or college age individuals

Salary:

Estimated Salary Range for 11 Months $55,409

• 58,985 Estimated Salary Range for 10 Months $50,372
• 53,612 Starting date: August 1, 2026 Work schedule: Calendar year, 11 months (Non-Obligation month of July), 10 month negotiable
