We are currently recruiting for faculty member to teach in the prelicensure Masters Direct Entry Program (MDE) with a primary focus on medical-surgical nursing. This faculty member will contribute to teaching across the prelicensure curriculum, supporting students' development of clinical reasoning, professional identity, and readiness for practice. The successful candidate will engage in classroom, clinical, and/or laboratory instruction, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and clinical partners to ensure high-quality learning experiences. This role requires a commitment to student success, inclusive teaching practices, and the preparation of graduates who are practice-ready and aligned with professional standards. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teaching in the prelicensure nursing program with a primary focus on medical-surgical nursing across didactic and clinical settings Facilitating student learning to promote clinical judgement, critical thinking, and application of evidence-based practice Supervising and evaluating students in clinical settings to ensure achievement of course and program outcomes Collaborating with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate course content and student assessments Collaborating with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate course content and student assessments Providing timely, constructive feedback and academic support to promote student progression and success Preparing students for success on the NCLEX through integration of test-taking strategies, clinical judgement frameworks, and NCLEX-style assessment throughout the curriculum Participating in curriculum development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives Engaging in scholarly and service activities, including publications, presentations, and contributions to the advancement of nursing education and practice, as well as active participation within the School of Nursing and broader academic and clinical communities Supporting a learning environment that reflects principles of equity, inclusion and professionalism Columbia University offers a competitive salary & outstanding benefits package. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution and enrollment in a doctoral program Active, unencumbered RN license Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with a strong background in medical-surgical nursing Demonstrated ability to teach and support diverse learners Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, EdD, or equivalent) Prior teaching experience in a prelicensure nursing program Experience in curriculum development and evaluation National certification in a relevant clinical specialty Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
