Classroom Teaching Teaching Full Job Description Overview:
Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY is currently recruiting for a Nursing/LPN Full-time Tenure Track Faculty. Be a part of the dynamic team that helps shape the next generation of nurses! The Nursing Department invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in our ACEN-accredited Associate Degree Nursing program and/ or upcoming Licensed Practical Nurse program. Major responsibilities include teaching nursing theory, clinical instruction and evaluation, lab instruction and evaluation; curriculum development and evaluation with opportunities to incorporate SIMS activities, student mentoring and advisement to ensure strengthening of knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will: Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning; Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes; Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives; Be responsive to student questions and available for student support; Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education; Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree or certification completion; and, Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency is required to instruct in the AAS RN program. At least three (3) years current acute-care experience. Candidates must be qualified to assist students with bedside nursing care and possess a broad knowledge of current and evolving clinical technology with advanced computer skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
College, vocational or proprietary school teaching experience. Experience with designing and conducting clinical laboratory simulations and a working knowledge of operating simulation manikins. Experience with distance education. Experience with mastery learning and instructional modules. Experience in student advisement. Formal course work in nursing education. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Bilingual in English and another language will be considered.

Involvement in professional organizations. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching. Flexibility in instructional delivery. Active professional development/life-long learning. Curriculum development. Service to college and community and a commitment to working closely with undergraduate students in small-class settings in a dynamic and diverse/multicultural college environment.
Additional Information:
Salary for 2026-2027 Assistant Professor level is $61,466. Onondaga Community College offers a generous and competitive benefits package including: New York State Teacher's Retirement System or Optional Retirement Savings Program.
